## Coverage lines

### Tax Professional Liability

Defends you against client claims of errors, omissions, or bad advice in tax preparation and planning.

**Do I need it?** The core policy — every practice needs this one.

### Cyber Liability Insurance

Covers breach response, notification, and recovery costs when client data is exposed or systems are held for ransom.

**Do I need it?** You hold client SSNs and returns — so, yes.

### Tax Business Owners Policy

Bundles general liability, property, and business-interruption coverage into one streamlined policy for your firm.

**Do I need it?** If you have an office, equipment, or a lease.

### Workers' Compensation

Pays medical bills and lost wages if an employee is injured on the job — required in most states once you hire staff.

**Do I need it?** Required in most states from your first hire.

### Bonds

Fidelity and surety bonds that guarantee your obligations and protect clients against loss or misconduct.

**Do I need it?** For trustees, executors & bonded preparers.

The picker does not bind coverage. It only pre-selects lines on the quote application.

## How a quote works

No portals to wrestle, no forms shouting in red. A short conversation, paperwork pulled in for you, and a licensed advisor at the end.

### Pick your policies.

Choose the coverage above — one line or five. We'll work outward from there, and you can always add more later.

### We pre-fill what we can.

Public records, dec pages, documents you've already shared. You confirm — you don't re-type.

### Sign a quick, non-binding application.

A short application is all it takes to see your rate — no commitment until you decide to move forward.

Takes about six minutes. No commitment. You can always add more later.

## Who we serve

Browse by practice type. Each link opens the full directory — this is not a coverage selector.

- [Tax practices](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#tax-practices): Returns, elections, and advice clients actually file — where a single miss can cost five figures.
- [Bookkeeping shops](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#bookkeeping): Monthly books and payroll are the product. Coverage when a posting error lands on your letterhead.
- [Advisory work](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#advisory): Planning and representation create liability the moment a client acts on what you said.
- [Attestation](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#attestation): Your signature is on the report. We insure the name underneath the opinion.
- [Fiduciary & specialty](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#fiduciary): Trustees, bonds, and engagements that usually arrive with extra paperwork — and higher stakes.
- [Beyond the usual](https://www.taxproeando.com/who-we-serve.md#beyond): Hybrid firms, niche verticals, part-time desks. If the work is about other people's numbers, talk to us.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is tax professional E&O insurance?

Errors and omissions (E&O) — also called professional liability — is coverage for claims that your tax, bookkeeping, or advisory work caused a client financial harm. A missed election, a bad piece of advice, or a filing error can become a demand letter. Whether a specific claim is covered depends on the policy form, the work you did, and the facts. An advisor maps that for your practice; this site does not bind coverage.

### Do Enrolled Agents and tax preparers need professional liability?

If clients rely on your returns, elections, or advice, you have professional exposure. Enrolled Agents, paid preparers, and small firms are the core of this program. We treat professional liability as the starting line, then add cyber, a business owners policy, workers' compensation, or bonds only when the practice actually needs them.

### Why would I need cyber if I already have E&O?

E&O responds to professional-services claims. Cyber responds to a different event: client Social Security numbers, returns, or bank details exposed, or systems held for ransom. Breach notification, forensics, and recovery costs usually sit on the cyber form, not the E&O form. If you e-file or keep client data — on a server, a laptop, or a portal — ask about both.

### What is a tax business owners policy (BOP)?

A business owners policy bundles general liability, business personal property, and often business-interruption coverage. It is the office, equipment, and premises policy — not a substitute for professional liability. If you have a lease, a waiting room, computers, or a sign on the door, a BOP is the usual way to cover that layer.

### When do I need workers' compensation?

Workers' compensation pays medical bills and lost wages when an employee is injured on the job. Most states require it once you have staff — including seasonal preparers in many cases. Owners and officers are treated differently by state. If you are hiring, or already have a W-2 team, say so on the quote; we will not guess your state's rule in a FAQ.

### What kinds of bonds do tax professionals buy?

Fidelity bonds protect against loss from employee dishonesty. Surety bonds guarantee an obligation — for example a PTIN / tax-preparer bond some jurisdictions require, or a bond tied to executor, trustee, or other fiduciary work. The homepage Bonds card is a starting point, not a list of every bond a practice might need.

### Does picking policies on this site bind coverage?

No. The picker only pre-selects lines on the quote at quote.taxproeando.com. You still complete a short, non-binding application. Nothing is bound until you and the carrier agree. You can add or drop lines with the advisor after you start.

### How long does a quote take?

The marketing picker takes a minute. The quote application is designed to take about six minutes if your business details are handy. A licensed advisor finishes with you — there is no portal to wrestle, and no commitment until you decide to move forward.

### Who is InterWest, and who is Dineen?

InterWest Insurance Services is a full-service brokerage founded in Northern California in 1992. The firm is licensed in all 50 states (CA license 0B01094) and works with A+ rated carriers on this program. Dineen Fraser is the advisor named on this site. Call (877) 877-0770 or email taxproeando@iwins.com, 8:30am–5:00pm Pacific, Monday to Friday.

### Do you work with NATP members?

Yes. InterWest is a partner of the National Association of Tax Professionals. NATP members can start from the NATP landing page, which tags the quote so the perk is applied. The coverage is still underwritten on the practice — membership is not a guarantee of a rate.

### Which practice types do you insure?

Tax preparers and Enrolled Agents, bookkeeping and payroll shops, planning and representation, attestation and assurance, and fiduciary or specialty roles (trustees, bonds, securities-adjacent work). Hybrid desks, remote firms, franchise offices, and part-time preparers are in market too. The directory on Who we serve is the full list we publish; if you do not see yourself, call and describe the work.

### Will you quote a premium on this page?

No. Rates depend on revenue, services, prior claims, state, and the carrier form. Anyone quoting a number from this marketing site is guessing. Start a quote or call Dineen — those are the two ways to get a real indication.

## Glossary

Coverage terms used on this site. Full page: [glossary](https://www.taxproeando.com/glossary.md).

- **E&O / professional liability:** Errors and omissions insurance. Covers claims that professional services — returns, advice, bookkeeping, representation — caused a client financial loss. Also called tax professional liability on this site.
- **Cyber liability:** Coverage for breach response, notification, and recovery when client data is exposed or systems are held for ransom. Separate from E&O.
- **Business owners policy (BOP):** A package of general liability, property, and often business-interruption coverage for the office and its contents. Not a substitute for professional liability.
- **Workers' compensation:** Pays medical costs and lost wages for employees injured at work. Required in most U.S. states once you have staff.
- **Fidelity bond:** A bond that protects against loss from employee theft or dishonesty. Common when staff handle client funds or sensitive files.
- **Surety bond:** A three-party guarantee of an obligation. Tax-preparer bonds, executor bonds, and some fiduciary engagements use surety rather than (or in addition to) E&O.
- **Enrolled Agent (EA):** A federally authorized tax practitioner who can represent taxpayers before the IRS. A core audience for this program, alongside paid preparers and small accounting firms.
- **NATP:** National Association of Tax Professionals. InterWest is an NATP partner; members can start a tagged quote from /partner/natp.
- **Prior acts:** Claims-made professional liability often covers wrongful acts that happened before the policy start, if they are first claimed during the policy period and no exclusion applies. Continuity matters when you switch carriers.
- **Dec page:** Declarations page — the front of a policy that lists named insured, limits, deductibles, forms, and the policy period. We ask for it so we can pre-fill instead of making you re-type.
- **A+ rated carrier:** A carrier with a strong financial-strength rating from a major rating agency. InterWest places this program only with A+ rated carriers. A rating is not a coverage grant.
- **Bind / non-binding application:** Binding is the moment coverage is in force. The application on the quote site is non-binding: you can see a rate without committing. Nothing is bound from the marketing picker alone.
- **PTIN:** Preparer Tax Identification Number, issued by the IRS to paid preparers. Some jurisdictions pair it with a surety bond requirement.
- **CAS (client advisory services):** Ongoing advisory retainers beyond compliance prep — planning, controller-style work, and consulting. Those engagements create advice liability the moment a client acts on what you said.
